Dushanbe, Tajikistan — From May 29 to 31, 2025, the capital of Tajikistan hosted the High-Level International Conference on Glacier Preservation as part of the United Nations-declared International Year of Glacier Preservation 2025 (UN General Assembly Resolution 77/158).
The conference brought together representatives from over 55 UN member states and 70 international organizations, including high-level officials. Approximately 2,500 participants attended the event. The primary goal of the conference was to consolidate international efforts toward developing strategies for glacier protection and the sustainable management of water resources dependent on cryospheric systems.
