Students Explore CAIAG Information Systems
On the 3th of December, first-year students from the Computer Programming Department of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, led by Senior Lecturer Selim Elmali, visited the Central Asian Institute for Applied Geosciences.
Professor Sheishenaly Usupaev, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, made a presentation about CAIAG. He emphasized the institute’s work, including the mandatory implementation of the results of its studies of glaciers, mountains, the biosphere, and other objects into practical applications, for example to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the organization of annual expeditions with colleagues from other countries.

Head of the Data Monitoring and Management Systems Department Alexander Zubovich, PhD in Physics and Mathematics, and engineer Sergey Sergeevich Barkalov spoke about the earthquake early warning system and geoinformation systems, IT infrastructure and demonstrated the server room.

The studentd also visited the institute’s library.
