The CAIAG’ representative participates in a discussion on the role of satellites in disaster management
Ulan Abdybachayev, Head of the Geodynamics and Georisks Department at the Central Asian Institute for Applied Geosciences, is participating in the 10th Joint Project Team Meeting for Sentinel Asia Step 3 (JPTM2025) in Dubai, UAE.
The event's program includes discussions on the use of satellite imagery for disaster management, GeoAI and Digital Twins. To familiarize participants with new tools and technologies, training sessions are being held on Sentinel Asia activation and the International Disaster Charter, rainfall monitoring systems, data analysis method on flood, and forecasting.
On February 10, Ulan Abdybachayev presented a paper entitled "2025 GLOF and Landslide Events in the Kyrgyz Republic: Validation Results and Good Practices".
CAIAG represents the Kyrgyz Republic in the Joint Project Team. Researchers from Bangladesh, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, the UAE, Nepal, Thailand, Turkey, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Japan are also participating in the meeting.
The event was organized by the The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.
