Co-Director of CAIAG - Bolot Moldobekov participated in the extended meeting of the technical working group on creation of the regional early warning system
In the period from April 15 to 16, 2025, Co-Director of CAIAG - Bolot Moldobekov participated in the extended meeting of the Technical Working Group (TWG) on the establishment of a regional early warning system with the participation of representatives of national hydrometeorological services of Central Asian countries.
The meeting was organized by the Centre for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction (CESDRR) within the framework of the regional project "Climate Risk Management in Central Asia" implemented by GIZ on behalf of the German Government.
During the meeting, the following materials developed under the project were presented for consideration by the project experts:
- Recommendations on improving the mechanism of exchange of hydrometeorological information between national hydrometeorological services of Central Asian countries;
- Proposals on exchange of information on dangerous hydrometeorological phenomena on transboundary territories between emergency agencies of the countries of the region;
- Concept for the establishment of the Regional Hydrological Disaster Early Warning System in pilot transboundary river basins of Central Asia.
As a result of the discussion, the participants approved the following documents:
- Initial draft of the Protocol of Intentions between emergency agencies of CA countries on mutual informing in case of transboundary emergencies;
- Initial draft of the Protocol of Intentions between hydrometeorological services on storm warnings and dangerous phenomena;
- Initial draft of the Concept of Establishment of Regional Early Warning System;
- Initial draft of the Road Map on the stages of the system establishment.
In general, the participants of the meeting noted the importance of the steps taken under the project aimed at creating a sustainable and effective regional early warning system. These measures are intended to contribute to improving the level of security of the population and territories of Central Asian countries.
