Earthquakes in CA

Since August 1st, 2010 CAIAG obtains data on strong (M> 4.5) earthquakes of Central Asia in a mode close to real time. It became possible thanks to the CAREMON network (Central Asian Real-Time Earthquake Monitoring Network). Its installation was complete in 2010 at the initiative of the German Organization on International Development and Advanced Training (InWent) in close cooperation with the German Center of Geosciences (GFZ Potsdam) and CAIAGwith financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany. In each of the states of Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan) were established broadband digital stations (only 6 stations) , which data in real time arrive on satellite communication channels at the central point of collecting ,with their subsequent transfer to all participants of the project. Besides, in each of the states the SeisComp-3 software package is established, which represents the latest technology on fast data exchange and automatic detection of epicenter and the magnitude of an earthquake in real time. It is planned to expose by the end of the year this information on the CAIAG web page in an on-line mode.
