CAIAG is Participating in the Preparation of Information on the Implementation of the UN Climate Change Convention
On May 26, 2026, a Technical Meeting was held to discuss the sectoral sections of the National Inventory Document, chapters of the Second Biennial Transparency Report, and the Fifth National Communication of the Kyrgyz Republic under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The Senior Researcher at the Central Asian Institute for Applied Geosciences Andrey Podrezov as an expert in the Climate Observation Sector, delivered a presentation on "Research and Systematic Observations" for Chapter 5 of the report.
Also Andrey Olegovich as an expert in the Education, Training, and Research Sector, presented an overview of the topic "Education, Training, and Public Awareness" for Chapter 6 of the report.
It should be noted that the Kyrgyz Republic acceded to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in January 2000. Thus, in accordance with its obligations, Kyrgyzstan is submitting information on the implementation of the Convention's provisions. The first National Communication, including the national inventory of greenhouse gas emissions and removals, was submitted in 2003. The first Biennial Update Report was submitted in 2022, and the first Biennial Transparency Report was submitted in 2025. This year, the second Biennial Transparency Report and the fifth National Communication are being prepared.
The technical meeting was organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment, and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, UNDP in the Kyrgyz Republic, and the Aarhus Centre.
